WEEKLY GROUP

Young Moms Marin meets weekly to connect, learn, and engage in parenting conversations that often entail more than just raising a child. As young parents, young moms face many obstacles beyond what is typical for a young person to navigate naturally. Young Moms Marin helps tackle these issues. A core feeling of the group’s success is the mutual support that the young moms build amongst themselves while building confidence to access community resources and the information they may need to succeed.

Many children are born into the group. We support the moms through this new, exciting, and scary beginning. The babies come to group and can stay with moms while we meet. The baby’s enter our childcare room when the mom decides and feels comfortable, she knows what she and her baby need.

CHILDCARE

Childcare is provided in a separate room nearby. During this time the children are engaged in activities, snacks, and games that are age appropriate. Babies are held and nurtured. Childcare is safe and structured. It is provided by Service-Learning Students from Dominican University and volunteers. For many children this is their first introduction to a childcare or daycare type environment.

Many of the children have grown up in the group creating strong connections to other young parents and the children in the group. A sense of extended family takes shape in their lives.

A LOT OF SOCIAL LEARNING AND PLAY HAPPENS HERE!
